This is the Acupoints section of CMD, which presents 400 or so channel and nonchannel points with location, classical location, local anatomy, indications, traditional indications, needling depth, stimulus, and point groups they belong to, and the meanings of their Chinese names. Links to the Dictionary table are provided.

You can select any item from the list appearing below this panel.
- Click Channel to access information in the Dictionary about the channel of interest.
- Click on Acupoints to see a preview list of all the points on the channel. Just click on the one that interests you.

Searches
- First, select Headword only or Headword and Text depending on whether you wish to search in the heading of an entry/article or through the heading and the text below it.
- Then, in the search box, enter alphanumeric codes (e.g., LU-1), unaccented Pīnyīn, simplified Chinese or traditional Chinese, or English (literal translation of the point name).
Note that joined-up Pīnyīn can be used to search for headwords, but not the whole text. - After entering your search word(s), you will see the Search Results appear. You can select
- Starting with to give you headwords that start with your search string or
- Containing to give headwords that contain (or the text of which contains) your search string.
- A filter box below Results allows you to insert another search string to narrow your search. So, for example, if your search string is
blood vacuity,
you can addheadache
in the filter box. To find all acupoints in whichblood vacuity
andheadache
both appear, either in the headword or headword and text, depending on which selection you have made.

- The texts include copious links to the Dictionary table.
- For those studying Chinese, each character of the Chinese headword is linked to the Terms table, where examples of its use can be found, together with links to stroke order animations.

LU, Hand Greater Yīn (tài yīn) Lung Channel Points
- LU-1 中府 〔中府〕zhōng fǔ, Central Collection House
Modern location: On the chest, at the level of the first intercostal space, inferior to the lateral extremity of the clavicle, 6 cùn lateral to the anterior midline (i.e., the controlling vessel).
Modern indications:Cough ;panting ;distension and fullness in the chest ; pain in the shoulder and back.
- LU-2 云门 〔雲門〕yún mén, Cloud Gate
Modern location: On the chest, in the depression immediately inferior to the lateral extremity of the clavicle, 6 cùn lateral to the midline.
Modern indications:Cough ;panting ;chest pain ; pain in the shoulder and arm.
- LU-3 天府 〔天府〕tiān fǔ, Celestial Collection House
Modern location: On the upper arm, 3 cùn inferior to the anterior axillary fold, on the lateral side of the biceps brachii muscle.
Modern indications:Panting ;nosebleed ;goiter ;upper arm pain ; pain in the medial aspect of the arm.
- LU-4 侠白 〔俠白〕xiá bái, Guarding White
Modern location: On the upper arm, 4 cùn inferior to the anterior axillary fold, on the lateral side of biceps brachii muscle.
Modern indications:Cough ;panting ;dry retching ;vexation and fullness ;upper arm pain ; pain in the medial aspect of the arm.
- LU-5 尺泽 〔尺澤〕chǐ zé, Cubit Marsh
Modern location: At the bend of the elbow, on the cubital crease, in the depression on the radial side of the biceps brachii tendon.
Modern indications:Cough ;panting ;coughing of blood ;tidal heat ;distension and fullness in the chest ;painful swollen throat ;fright wind ;vomiting and diarrhea ; hypertonicity and pain in the elbow and arm.
- LU-6 孔最 〔孔最〕kǒng zuì, Collection Hole
Modern location: On the palmar aspect of the forearm, 5 cùn distal to the cubital crease, on the line connectingLU-5 (chǐ zé) andLU-9 (tài yuān).
Modern indications:Cough ;panting ;coughing of blood ;painful swollen throat ;hemorrhoids ; pain in the elbow and arm with difficulty in bending and stretching.
- LU-7 列缺 〔列缺〕liè quē, Broken Sequence
Modern location: 1.5 cùn proximal to the wrist, in a crevice on the lateral edge of the radius just proximal to the styloid process.
Modern indications:Wind damage ;headache andstiff nape ;cough ;panting ;painful swollen throat ;deviated eyes and mouth ;clenched jaw ;toothache ; lack of strength in the wrist.
- LU-8 经渠 〔經渠〕jīng qú, Channel Ditch
Modern location: On the palmar aspect of the forearm, level with the styloid process of the radius, 1 cùn proximal to the wrist crease, on the radial side of the radial artery.
Modern indications:Cough ;panting ;chest pain ;painful swollen throat ; wrist pain.
- LU-9 太渊 〔太淵〕tài yuān, Great Abyss
Modern location: On the palmar aspect of the wrist, in the depression at the radial end of the wrist crease, between the radial artery and the abductor pollicis longus tendon.
Modern indications:Panting ;cough ;coughing of blood ;painful swollen throat ; pain in the chest and medial aspect of the forearm.
- LU-10 鱼际 〔魚際〕yú jì, Fish Border
Modern location: On the thenar eminence, midway along the radial edge of the first metacarpal bone, at the border of the red and white flesh.
Modern indications:Cough ;coughing of blood ;loss of voice ;painful swollen throat ;heat effusion .
- LU-11 少商 〔少商〕shào shāng, Lesser Shāng
Modern location: A little more than 1 fēn below the base of the nail on the radial side of the thumb.
Modern indications:Painful swollen throat ;cough ;panting ;nosebleed ;heat effusion ; pain and hypertonicity of the fingers;clouding reversal ;mania and withdrawal .
